Duplicating posts and pages in WordPress is incredibly useful for quickly replicating layouts, reusing content, or creating new versions of existing pages. However, WordPress doesn’t have a built-in option for duplicating content. The Yoast Duplicate Post plugin offers a simple and efficient solution to this problem. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use this plugin to duplicate posts or pages:

Step 1: Install the Plugin

  1. Go to Plugins: In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Plugins > Add New.
  2. Search for the Plugin: Type “Duplicate Post” into the search bar.
  3. Select Yoast Duplicate Post: Look for the plugin titled Yoast Duplicate Post. This plugin is user-friendly and effective for duplicating content.
  4. Install and Activate: Click Install Now, then Activate to enable the plugin on your site.

Step 2: Duplicate a Post or Page

  1. Navigate to Posts or Pages: Go to either the Posts or Pages section in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Hover Over the Post/Page: You’ll now see new options such as CloneNew Draft, and Rewrite & Republish.
    • Clone: This creates an exact copy of the post or page as a draft. It keeps the same title and content, allowing you to edit it later.
    • New Draft: This option copies the post or page and opens it immediately in the editor, ready for modifications.
    • Rewrite & Republish: This allows you to make changes to an existing post and republish it as a new version. This is useful if you want to update a post while keeping the original version intact.

Step 3: Finalize Your Duplicate

  1. Edit the New Draft: After duplicating the post or page, update the title to reflect the new content you’re creating.
  2. Adjust the Permalink: Ensure the permalink (URL) reflects the new title to avoid confusion and ensure proper indexing.

Conclusion

The Yoast Duplicate Post plugin is an invaluable tool for WordPress users, making it easy to replicate posts and pages without starting from scratch. Whether you’re reusing content or maintaining consistency across your site, this plugin simplifies the process.

Give it a try and streamline your WordPress workflow!
