Built for Everyone

Accessible sites are better sites for all

Accessibility comes down to making your site easy to use, and that helps every visitor. Strong contrast is easier to read on a phone in bright sunlight, clear headings help people skim to what they need, and forms with good labels get filled out instead of abandoned. Those same improvements are what make your site work for people using a keyboard or a screen reader, so you’re building one better experience instead of a separate one. An accessibility audit shows you where your site falls short and what to fix first.

What’s in the Audit

What does your site look like to someone who can’t see it?

Every audit is tested against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most accessibility guidelines and regulations point to. Here’s what we look for.

Keyboard navigation

Can someone move through your menus, forms, and buttons using only a keyboard, and can they always see where they are on the page?

Screen reader experience

We listen to your pages the way a screen reader user would, so we catch missing labels, confusing headings, and images that say nothing.

Color and contrast

Text that’s too light or buttons that blend into the background are some of the most common issues, and some of the easiest to fix.

Forms

Contact and quote forms are where accessibility issues cost you the most, so we make sure every field, error message, and button makes sense to everyone.

Content Structure

Headings, links, and page layout should make sense on their own, not just visually.

A developer-ready fix list

Every issue comes with a plain-English explanation and the technical details your developer needs to fix it.

How an accessibility audit works

Automated scanners only catch part of the picture, so every audit pairs them with hands-on testing by a certified accessibility specialist.

Step 1: Choose your pages

Most sites don’t need every page tested. We’ll help you pick one page from each unique template, which usually covers most of your site’s components and gives a solid picture of the issues site wide.

Step 2: We run the tests

Your pages go through automated scans, a manual review of those results, keyboard-only testing, and screen reader testing.

Step 3: Get your report

You’ll receive a plain-English report explaining what was found and why it matters, with screenshots where they help and a separate “For Your Developer” section with the technical fixes and code snippets. Make the fixes with your own team, or have us take care of them.

Our Difference

Why AWD?

Certified expertise

Every audit is performed by an IAAP-certified accessibility specialist, so you’re getting a real expert’s eyes on your site, not just an automated score.

Reports you can actually read

Most accessibility reports are written for developers. Ours explain each issue in plain English first, so you understand what’s wrong and why it matters before anyone touches the code.

Help with the next step

A report is only useful if someone acts on it. Since we design and build websites, we can quote the fixes as a separate project once your audit is done, and then have them retested to confirm everything’s resolved.

Questions about accessibility audits?

Here are the ones we hear most. Still not sure about something? Reach out to us.

What is WCAG 2.1 Level AA?

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is the international standard for web accessibility. Level AA is the middle tier and the one most organizations aim for, covering things like contrast, keyboard access, and screen reader support.

Do I need to audit every page?

Usually not. Testing one page from each unique template covers most of the components used across your site, so the results give you a clear picture of site wide issues without paying to test pages that share the same layout.

Can’t I just install an accessibility plugin?

Accessibility overlays and plugins can’t fix most of the underlying issues in your site’s code, and some create new problems for screen reader users. A real audit tells you what actually needs to change.

Will this make my site ADA compliant?

There’s no official “ADA compliant” checklist for websites. The ADA requires businesses to be accessible to people with disabilities, but it doesn’t say how a website should get there, so WCAG has become the standard sites are measured against. An audit shows you where your site falls short of WCAG 2.1 AA and what to fix, which puts you in a much stronger position. We can’t offer legal advice or guarantee compliance, but we can give you a clear, documented path forward.

Does the audit include fixing the issues?

The audit itself doesn’t include fixes, but the report gives your developer everything they need. If you’d rather we handle it, we can quote the fixes as a separate project.

What do you need from me to get started?

Just your website and the pages you’d like tested. If you’re not sure which pages to choose, we’ll recommend them.
